Homework 8- Peer Critique 2

From a single glance, this is a very intriguing movie poster with many layers. This movie poster has a clear animated base, whether this is an animated movie or just a realistic movie with a cartoonist movie poster. This poster has the appearance of a horror film with the human protagonist running away from a ghoulish figure reaching out to grasp the man. The red balloon may be a metaphorical representation of innocence and the monster hungers to grab and eradicate that innocence.
The horror genre of the film comes across easily from the image. The animated quality of the poster helps to let the monster express its horror aspect. The dark and light tones of purple and black work nicely to make a good atmosphere for the movie. The red balloon and the shadow figure make for a good contrast. The wave of darkness in the background gives a great ominous feel to the image.
The shadow of the monster could be a little more defined. The light purple background could be a shade darker to make the poster more sinister. The mountain the monster is clutching could blend in more with the background. The title text feels a bit too generic. These criticism are all just minor changes, this movie poster is still is a very solid and well crafted piece of work.
